Our
Preschool program services children 36 months of age through the first day of
Kindergarten.
The space is designed to
allow your children to explore new things including their independence. Each
year the teachers in this room re-write the curriculum to ensure that the
individual needs of the children in the classroom are being met. Children in
this room have regular observations completed as well as a portfolio for the
school year. The program does not break for summer months; instead the group
shifts to science lessons which include building their own garden of fruits and
vegetables in the playground. Various “centers” within the room allow children
to have the choice of play. Some of the areas include Math, Writing, Dramatic
Play, Transportation and Blocks. The state ratio for this group is 1 teacher to
every 10 children. On a typical day the preschool room has 1 teacher to every 7
children.
Curriculum:
The center aligns their curriculum to meet the Pennsylvania State Standards. Our curriculum is modified to meet the individual needs of each child. We believe that children learn in many different ways and by providing multiple approaches learning, we are able to ensure that each experience is meaningful for the child.
